An Obstacle Course for a Child Physical Activity

By Nancy Johnson Setting up an obstacle course is a wonderful child physical activity. Children get lots of exercise while having fun. An obstacle course can be set up with items you may already have. Usually an obstacle course is set up outdoors, but can be a wonderful indoor activity when the weather is bad. To set up an obstacle course, think of terms such as jump, hop, crawl under, climb over, walk along, go right or go left. A child physical activity includes practicing gross motor skills, balance and coordination. Plan out the course by listing the skills you want the children to practice. Eight to ten stations is a good number for school age children. Use a ladder flat on the ground to run through
Crawl under a table or broom hung between 2 chairs
Hop through hula hoops set on the ground
Step over an obstacle such as yardstick between 2 chairs at knee height
Walk across balance beam (4x4 board)
Weave in and out of poles made with PVC pipe inserted in sand buckets
Squeeze through 2 objects placed close so child walks sideways
Throw ball into wastebasket
Carry an object on a spoon (water balloon outdoors, small ball indoors)
Jump or skip 5 times with jump rope
Bounce or dribble ball to next station (at least 5 times) You can adjust this child physical activity to fit the ages, abilities and number of children in your group. Make the obstacle course simple at first and gradually increase the difficulty of each station. If you want, time the kids to see how fast they can complete the course. Record their individual times and see if they can practice to improve their own times. Make certificates of accomplishment and completion of this child physical activity; the obstacle course. Dating World Online - All You Need To Know

By Jill Brennan It seems like everyone is talking about on-line dating these days. Everyone has either a wonderful success story or the worst horror story in the world. If you are new to the world of Internet dating, you may be put off by the horror stories. However, the online dating world can also be a wonderful place to meet new people-even that "special someone." The only difference between "real" dating and on-line dating is the Internet. There are numerous online dating services available, catering to people of all ages, interests, demographics and various walks of life. The numbers of people who are participating in online dating services are on the rise. A recent study showed that approximately 1 out of 5 Americans have or do now participate in some form of an online dating service. More than ever before, young people are using the Internet as their main route to meet people. They see nothing shameful about this way of socializing. Plus, the anonymity that the online dating world provides can be appealing. The more reputable online dating services will require any potential members to sign a membership agreement (make sure you read this carefully before signing up). These sites have created a set of requirements that must be met before someone is allowed to participate. Most of these sites are also pay-sites. You may be able to have a free, but limited, membership-which may allow you to view profiles but not contact members. But this also allows the services to accept or reject aspiring members based on their requirements. If you do not already know, subscribers to online dating services are required to create a profile containing a picture and other information such as interests, hobbies, and other similar information. Most are also asked what type of person they would like to be contacted by. Subscribers also have a chance to express themselves and their personality as well as specify what they are looking for-whether social networking, friendship, or a romantic rendezvous. The subscribers are then matched with, or can search for, fellow subscribers who match their descriptions. Then it is up to the subscribers to pursue a connection with the other subscribers. Online dating services are designed to be simple to use. Anyone with Internet access (as close as a library card) and a credit card can take advantage of these services. With a simple click of a mouse, one can dive from a dating pool that is limited by location and familiarity into a dating pool that is practically infinite. Online dating can be confusing. There are so many options these days and negotiating your way through can be difficult on your own. Dealing With Woodworking Contractors - How Not To Get Ripped Off

By Josiah Roell Always be alert and know how much you are going to spend even if your reliable contractor has already given you a detailed estimation of the woodwork cost. Study the charges and do homework before relying completely on him. Dont depend on your intuition to make sure your contractor has not overcharged you. It may also occur that he is focusing on purchasing low-quality and cheap materials to impress you. For estimating the woodwork cost, some persons seek professional help from third party, depending on the extent and size of the woodwork. But before going for professional aid, check the tips of this article which will help you in judging intuitively in checking the charges estimated by your contractor. At first be sure of the price of the materials. The costs of materials are very important as they found the base for the value of any woodwork. Cost of the materials form the chunk of the bill offered by your contractor, so check out the market rates to see whether he is overcharging you. Have a look at the background of the laborers. You are only obliged to pay a price higher than the market rate in case your woodwork involves certified expert workers. If you find out that you are charged sky-high for laborers even when your contractor has incorporated ordinary laborers, you have the right to complain. If he is reluctant to charge you low, fire him out from your project. Make a thorough study of the design. Even if your woodwork so complicated, it can of common design and can be easily mass produced. Check if this is the case; if it is, ensure that you are charged properly for the apparent expensive design. Seek the help of online to see for yourself. Study the workmanship. You may be charged a higher price for every work since your contractor does his work meticulously and intricately. He may work with great precision, a single sand mark may be absent in his work and one cant find out that various pieces of wood are pasted altogether. In case you contractor works impeccably, dont worry about the higher price he has charged. Follow these four important tips and you will get a rough idea of how and what you are charged. But dont forget that there can be differences between your estimation and that of your contractor. If you dont comprehend any part of the bill, talk with your contractor to get the reasons. Thus you can be assured that you are not ripped off your money. How To Set Up A Freshwater Fish Aquarium

By Keith Londrie Equipment you will need: Aquarium, Aquarium gravel, Aquarium filter, Replacement filter media, Heater, Other decorations (such as fake or real plants), Aquarium test kits to test water parameters and monitor the infamous aquarium nitrogen cycle, Fish food, Aquarium vacuum, Fish net, Aquarium Glass Scrubber, 5-gallon bucket, Pasta strainer, Realize the responsibility involved. Learning how to set up a fish tank is not all that difficult, but there are some steps you should follow. First, you must realize a few things about an aquarium setup. A tropical fish tank is just like having a dog or a cat when it comes to the amount of effort on your part. In order to have a successful freshwater tropical fish tank you will have to work at it. Once a week, or at most once every two weeks, you will need to perform some kind of maintenance on the tank. Most of the time you will be performing water changes. You will also have to feed your fish at least once a day. If you are up to the challenge, please proceed! Decide on an aquarium size. It's a good idea to have in mind what kind of fish you want to keep before you purchase an aquarium. Some fish only grow to be an inch or two, whereas other types of tropical fish can grow 12 or 13 inches or more in length! Knowing what kind of fish you want will help you decide the size of the tank they will need. If this is your first time with an aquarium, it may be a good idea to start with a 10 or 20 gallon aquarium setup for now and stock it with some smaller and hardier species. Decide on the aquarium's location. Place your aquarium in an area where the light and temperature of the tank won't be affected by external sources such as windows and heater vents. Sunlight that enters the room through an unshaded window could affect the temperature of your tank. This could also lead to green algae problems for your tank down the road. You will want to place your aquarium on a stand that will be able to hold its total weight. You also want to be sure that the floor is able to support the total weight of the aquarium and stand. A good rule of thumb for determining the total weight of a full aquarium is 10 pounds per gallon of water. For example, a 55-gallon tank will weigh approximately 550 pounds when filled with water! Buy your aquarium and equipment. Now is a good time to decide on the type of aquarium filter you will want to use. You will also need to purchase a heater capable of heating the tank size you have. Buy the gravel, plants, a power strip and other decorations. A good rule of thumb for the amount of gravel that you will need is 1 to 1.5 pounds of gravel per gallon of water. Set up your aquarium and stand. Wash out your tank with water only! Do not use soap or detergents. Soap residue left behind will be harmful for your tropical fish. If you are going to use an under gravel filter (not recommended) now would be the time to set it up as well. Wash Gravel, plants and decorations. Be sure to wash the gravel thoroughly before adding it to your tank. An easy way to do this is to put some of the rocks in a pasta strainer and wash them out in your bath tub. Then place the clean gravel in a clean 5-gallon bucket for transport to the aquarium. After adding the gravel you can place your plants and decorations. Add water to the aquarium. To avoid messing up your gravel and plants, you can place a plate or saucer in the middle of your aquarium and direct the water flow onto the plate. Use room temperature water when filling. To remove the chlorine and chloramine, use something like Tetra AquaSafe for Aquariums. Don't completely fill up the aquarium until you are sure of the layout of your decorations. Otherwise, when you place your arm in to move stuff around water is going to spill over. Doh! Set up equipment. Install your heater but don't plug it in until the thermostat in the heater has adjusted to the water temperature. This usually takes about 15 minutes or so. Hook up your filter and any other equipment you have, then top off the aquarium water to just under the hood lip. Place your hood and tank light on the aquarium and then check your power cords to be sure that they are free of water. I would also recommend using a drip loop on all of the power cords to be extra cautious. For more information on safety, read this great article on aquarium electrical safety. Plug all of the equipment into a power strip and then "turn on" the aquarium. Wait, wait, wait and then wait some more. I know, you want to add some fish. But, in order to do this right you must wait until your aquarium has cycled before adding any fish. There are ways of speeding up this process. Check out the nitrogen cycle to learn more about starting the nitrogen cycle and how to speed it up. If you must use fish to cycle, try to get a hardier species like the zebra danio or cherry barb. You may notice your fish tank cycle kicking in gear if you start to get some white cloudy aquarium water after a few days. Add tropical fish. Only add one or two fish at a time. Adding a couple fish at a time gives your filtration system the time needed to take on the increased biological load that the new fish introduce. When you bring the fish home let the bag float in the tank for about 15 minutes so that the fish can become acclimated to the temperature and pH of the aquarium water. After 5 minutes of floating the bag you should add some of the aquarium water to the bag so that the fish can become acclimated to the pH level in the aquarium. This will help reduce the amount of stress imposed on the fish. Stressed fish often leads to dead or diseased fish! Don't feed your fish on the first day. They probably wouldn't eat any food on the first day anyway. Let them get acquainted with their new home. Get ready for regular maintenance. Be prepared to spend some time once every week or two to clean your tank. Performing regular water changes will reduce the nitrate levels and keep your tropical fish happy and healthy. As you can see, the steps for how to set up a fish tank are not that complex and hopefully you now have your aquarium setup and running! Have fun, take care of and enjoy your fish! Sins and the REAL Demons

By Robert Baird We all must know that the Catholic Church has used fear of demons and so-called sin to make a great deal of their power. I hope to illustrate the inner workings of the separation of church and state that is not a reality and that the state uses the same techniques. In the words of the deservedly respected historians Will and Ariel Durant we visit with the technocrats of the Jesuit Order who John Ralston Saul holds up as the forerunners of the lobbyists and other courtesans of this present enlightened age. The quotation from Rousseau and Revolution does not elucidate the agreement Charles of Spain made before giving the Jesuits he expelled from Spain a small stipend. That agreement called for silence on the matters relating to their attempts to inform the people of his true nature. But during this silent period I suggest there were some Jesuits like Adam Weishaupt who decided enough was enough. It is this moment in history that we find a significant change in the world took place. America was created in the same year the Illuminati were re-organized and Russia celebrated the founding day of these Illuminati in their May Day celebration. Various accounts say they intended to have him killed and the truth may never be known because the rest of the Catholic world allowed these hundreds of good Catholics to nearly die on a boat going from port to port seeking refuge. This was (as you will see) a time when muggers and crooks were given 'sanctuary' in the churches. Gregory of Tours in an earlier time notes how this 'sanctuary' often led to the priests making money from charging the supposed crook or the parties wishing to kill them through secret agreements. The Jesuits so expelled lived a miserable existence on a meager pension but kept their mouths shut because if even one talked all would lose their pension. In short there really is no mystery here at all - but it does dovetail with the possibilities of why we are seldom allowed to hear what really went on in the annals of what we improperly call history. "II. POPES, KINGS, AND JESUITS The power of the Catholic Church rested on the natural super-naturalism of mankind, the recognition and sublimation of sensual impulses and pagan survivals, the encouragement of Catholic fertility {Read baby-factories and 'barefoot in the kitchen' .}, and the inculcation of a theology rich in poetry and hope, and useful to moral discipline and social order. In Italy the Church was also the main source of national income, and a valued check upon a people especially superstitious, pagan, and passionate. Superstitions abounded; as late as 1787 witches were burned at Palermo--and refreshments were served to fashionable ladies witnessing the scene. (2) Pagan beliefs, customs, and ceremonies survived with the genial sanction of the Church. 'I have arrived at a vivid conviction,' wrote Goethe, 'that all traces of original Christianity are extinct here' in Rome. (3) There were, however, many real Christians left in Christendom, even in Italy. Conte Caissotti di Chiusano, bishop of Asti, gave up his rich inheritance, lived in voluntary poverty, and traveled only on foot. Bishop Testa of Monreale slept on straw, ate only enough to subsist, kept only 3,000 lire of his revenues for his personal needs, and devoted the remainder to public works and the poor. (4) {But the majority of prelates were not so inclined as they engaged in concubinage and fathering children of the parishioners wives as the church owned the majority of farms and land throughout Italy while collecting alms for the poor. The bulk of church wealth comes from guilt and estates where upon death promises of salvation are tied to a good deed by giving the wealth to the church rather than the justly deserving heirs.} The Church responded in some measure to the Enlightenment. The works of Voltaire, Rousseau, Diderot, Helvtius, d'Holbach, La Mettrie, and other freethinkers were of course placed on the Index Expurgatorius, but permission to read them might be obtained from the pope. {This is a perfect example of what we said about practicing one thing while excluding others access to what works. The pope also became promoted as a source of the right to learn. Is this like the situation we have in public education before reaching university?} Monsignor Ventimiglio, bishop (1757-73) of Catania, had in his library full editions of Voltaire, Helvetius, and Rousseau. The Inquisition was abolished in Tuscany and Parma in 1769, in Sicily in 1782, in Rome in 1809. {Witches were still outlawed no doubt. It took until 1951 to rescind the laws against being a witch in England. There are movements afoot to re-institute blasphemy laws.} In 1783 a Catholic priest, Tamburini, under the name of his friend Trauttmansdorff, published an essay On Ecclesiastical and Civil Toleration, in which he condemned the Inquisition, declared all coercion of conscience to be un-Christian, and advocated toleration of all theologies except atheism. (5) It was the misfortune of the popes, in this second half of the eighteenth century, that they had to face the demand of Catholic monarchs for the total dissolution of the Society of Jesus. The movement against the Jesuits was part of a contest of power between the triumphant nationalism of the modern state and the internationalism of a papacy weakened by the Reformation, the Enlightenment, and the rise of the business class. {Cardinal Biffi of Bologna thinks there is an anti-Christ among us today who is a philanthropist of great wealth. This anti-Christ supports ecological, animal - and women's right while destroying the tenets of Catholicism. Biffi was a leading contender to take John Paul II's place from the conservative faction of this supranational elite. Apparently this anti-Christ is well versed in the Bible and maybe even a better Christian than Biffi, as I see it.} The Catholic enemies of the Society did not openly press their chief objection, that it had persistently upheld the authority of the popes as superior to that of kings, but they were keenly resentful that an organization acknowledging no superior except its general and the pope should in effect constitute, within each state, an agent of foreign power. They acknowledged the learning and piety of the Jesuits, {Were they jealous of their 'brothers' who actually knew more?} their contributions to science, literature, philosophy, and art, their sedulous and efficient education of Catholic youth, their heroism on foreign missions, their recapture of so much territory once lost to Protestantism. But they charged that the Society had repeatedly interfered in secular affairs, that it had engaged in commerce to reap material gains, that it had inculcated casuistic principles excusing immorality and crime, condoning even the murder of kings, that it had allowed heathen customs and beliefs to survive among its supposed converts in Asia, and that it had offended other religious orders, and many of the secular clergy, by its sharpness in controversy and its contemptuous tone. The ambassadors of the Kings of Portugal, Spain, Naples, and France insisted that the papal charter of the Society be revoked, and that the organization be officially and universally dissolved. The expulsion of the Jesuits from Portugal in 1759, from France in 1764-67, from Spain and Naples in 1767, had left the Society still operative in Central and North Italy, in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, in Catholic Germany, Silesia, and Poland. On February 7, 1768, they were expelled from the Bourbon duchy of Parma, and were added to the congestion of Jesuit refugees in the states of the Church. Pope Clement XIII protested that Parma was a papal fief; he threatened Duke Ferdinand VI and his ministers with excommunication of the edict of expulsion should be enforced {But Hitler, or should I say Schicklgruber/Rothschild, was never excommunicated and probably not even threatened. Why?!}; when they persisted he launched a bull declaring the rank and title of the Duke forfeited and annulled. The Catholic governments of Spain, Naples, and France opened war upon the papacy: {One of my ancestors was Miles Keogh who fought with the Vatican Army before his horse was the only survivor of Custer's Last Stand at the Little Big Horn. Many people have a hard time thinking of a supranational theological armed superpower in so recent a time. I suspect he became a Martinist when he was engaged to a Martin of political importance.} Tanucci seized the papal cities of Benevento and Pontecorvo, and France occupied Avignon. On December 10 1768, the French ambassador at Rome, in the name of France, Naples, and Spain, presented to the Pope a demand for the retraction of the bull against Parma, and for the abolition of the Society of Jesus. The seventy-six-year-old pontiff collapsed under the strain of this ultimatum. He summoned for February 3, 1769, a consistory of prelates and envoys to consider the matter. On February 2 he fell dead through the bursting of a blood vessel in his brain. The cardinals who were called to choose his successor were divided into two factions: 'zelanti' who proposed to defy the kings, and 'regalisti' who favored some pacific accommodations. As the Italian cardinals were almost all 'zelanti', and soon gathered in Rome, they tried to open the conclave before the regalist cardinals from France, Spain, and Portugal could arrive. {Does any of this seem the least bit divinely inspired?} The French ambassador protested, and the conclave was deferred. Meanwhile Lorenzo Ricci, general of the Jesuits, compromised their case by issuing a pamphlet questioning the authority of any pope to abolish the Society. (6) In March Cardinal de Bernis arrived from France, and began to canvass the cardinals with a view to ensure the election of a pope willing to satisfy their Catholic Majesties. Later rumors (7) that he or others bribed, or otherwise induced, Cardinal Giovanni Ganganelli to promise such action if chosen have been rejected by Catholic (8) and anti-Catholic historians (9) alike. {Many apparently 'anti' positions are actually managed or double agents.} Ganganelli, by common consent, was a man of great learning, devotion, and integrity; however, he belonged to the Franciscan order, which had often been at odds with the Jesuits, {Such as the treatment of North Americas who Franciscans brutalized in ways no devil would imagine.} both in missions and in theology. (10) On May 19, 1769, he was elected by the unanimous vote of the forty cardinals, and took the name of Clement XIV. He was sixty-three years old. He found himself at the mercy of the Catholic powers. France and Naples held on to the papal territory they had seized; Spain and Parma were defiant; Portugal threatened to establish a patriarchate independent of Rome, even Maria Theresa, hitherto fervently loyal to the papacy and the Jesuits, but now losing authority to her freethinker son Joseph II, answered the Pope's appeal that she could not resist the united will of so many potentates. Choiseul, dominating the government of France, instructed Bernis to tell the Pope that 'if he does not come to terms he can consider all relations with France at an end. (11) Charles III of Spain had sent a similar ultimatum on April 22. Clement, playing for time, promised Charles soon to 'submit to the wisdom and intelligence of your Majesty a plan for the total extinction of the Society.' (12) He ordered his aides to consult the archives and summarize the history, achievements, and alleged offenses of the Society of Jesus. He refused to surrender to Choiseul's demand that he decide the issue within two months. He took three years, but finally yielded. On July 21, 1773, he signed the historic brief 'Dominus ac Redemptor Noster'. It began with a long list of religious congregations that had, in the course of time, been suppressed by the Holy See. It noted the many complaints made against the Jesuits, and the many efforts of divers popes to remedy the abuses so alleged. 'We have observed with the bitterest grief that these remedies, and others applied afterward, had neither efficacy or strength to put an end to the troubles, the charges, and the complaints.' (13) The brief concluded: Having recognized that the Society of Jesus could no longer produce the abundant fruit and the great good for which it was instituted and approved by so many popes, our predecessors, who adorned it with so many most admirable privileges, and seeing that it was almost--and indeed absolutely--impossible for the Church to enjoy a true and solid peace while this order existed,... we do hereby, after a mature examination, and of our certain knowledge, and by the plenitude of our Apostolic power, suppress and abolish the Society of Jesus. We nullify and abrogate all and each of its offices, functions, administrations, houses, schools, colleges, retreats, refuges, and other establishments which belong to it in any manner whatever, and in every province, kingdom, or state in which it may be found. (14) The brief went on to offer pensions to those Jesuits who had not yet taken holy orders, and who wished to return to lay life; it permitted Jesuit priests to join the secular clergy or some religious congregation approved by the Holy See; it allowed professed Jesuits, who had taken final and absolute vows, to remain in their former houses provided they dressed like secular priests and submitted to the authority of the local bishop... This is not generally the fashion here. A murderer killing himself, in Naples; the murderer usually makes for the nearest church; once there is quite safe. Every church gave the criminal 'sanctuary'-immunity from arrest so long as he remained under its roof. The law attempted to deter crime rather by severity of punishment than by efficiency of police. Under the laws of the gentle Benedict XIV blasphemy was punished by flogging, and, for a third offence, five years in the galleys. Unlawful entry of a convent at night was a capital crime. The solicitation or public embrace of an honorable woman brought condemnation to the galleys for life. Defamation of character, even if it spoke nothing but the truth, was punishable with death and confiscation of goods." (15) One can easily imagine these people were well behaved and civilized... right?! Is my sense of disgust at the deprecation of the 'savages' and 'pagans' unwarranted? Botulinum Toxin for Migraines

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Skip_Freedman] Skip Freedman Headaches have hundreds of potential causes and are one of the more painful common conditions that bring patients to primary care doctors and neurologists. Migraine headaches affect about 29.5 million people in the United States. Women are three times more likely to suffer from them than men. They are more prevalent among people between 20 and 45 years old and are a leading cause of work absenteeism and reduced work productivity. The direct and indirect cost of migraines to the economy is estimated at $50 billion a year. Using botulinum toxin injections is a controversial treatment to prevent migraine headaches. Reports in the scientific literature (including retrospective case series, uncontrolled and nonblinded studies, small controlled trials and case reports) suggest botulinum reduces migraines in some patients. However, recently several larger and randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials that were differently designed dont favor botulinum toxin as a treatment. A clinical trial entitled A Study Using Botulinum Toxin Type A as Headache Prophylaxis for Migraine Patients with Frequent Headaches is currently underway. Today some clinicians use botulinum toxin injections trying to manage patients who have severe and frequent migraines. Given the varying clinical experiences reported, one of the criteria proposed for doctors to select patients for this treatment is their failure to respond to other migraine treatments; but each migraine sufferer is unique. Doctors considering botulinum toxin therapy for a migraine patient should take a thorough review of the patients clinical history; conduct an in-depth physical examination; perform or review diagnostic studies; consider past and current treatments and the patients responses to them; and consider any co-morbid illnesses or conditions. Until the results of the current and future clinical trials of botulinum toxin for migraine headache prevention can provide definitive answers about its efficacy and safety, doctors should use it on a case-by-case basis. Only an individualized approach allows the doctor to balance all the considerations when using botulinum toxin. For now, doctors should carefully preselect patients who might potentially benefit from the therapy until further evidence-based research deepens our understanding about its clinical use. Unless plan language specifically excludes this treatment, case managers should be aware of the evolving nature of botulinum toxin injections for migraines and that it needs case-by-case consideration. This makes it a good candidate for review by an independent review organization with a physician panel up-to-date on the latest medical literature about the treatment. Fitness Boozing - Minimize the Effects of Alcohol on Your Body

By Jay Thomas The reality is, alcohol is a simple sugar, in fact, the simplest sugar there is. While most sugars have to travel to the intestinal tract to be absorbed, alcohol can be absorbed through the wall of the stomach, which is why you can do a few shots and feel it relatively quickly. While most sugars yield 4 calories per gram, alcohol yields 7, and they are basically worthless calories. They are easily converted into triglycerides and stored as fat. The sugar also affects insulin balance, so you can not release stored fat. End result over time = beer belly. Worst of all, since about 90-120 minutes after consuming a fair amount of alcohol, blood sugar drops, your body sends it these little chemical signals (neurotransmitters) trying to drive you to the foods that will restore blood sugar quickly. That's why you end up in Denny's or Jack in the Box at 3 AM. Trick #1 is of course limiting alcohol consumption to one day per week (the Cheat Day). You can't get fat in a day, and if you're spending six days of the week boosting metabolism, your body will learn to burn through . . . . well . . . even a Denny's meal once in awhile. If Trick #1, seems too restrictive, that doesn't mean you can't do this. There are some steps you can take that will hinder alcohols negative effects on your physique. First, if you are planning on having a few, a complete meal, consisting of a good amount of protein and some complex carbs (like a chicken breast and a potato) one hour before will allow you to get to those quality nutrients before those empty calories hit the bloodstream. Since protein has a "thermic" (heat producing or calorie burning effect), it will lessen the metabolic slowdown you'll bring about by drinking on an empty stomach and help to put your body in a state where it is more likely to burn at least some of those alcohol calories as energy. It might also be beneficial to swallow two carb blocker pills about 30 minutes before drinking. These are carb grabbers that inhibit the amylase enzymes that converts excess sugars into fats, lessening the likelihood the alcohol will be stored as body (read: belly) fat. It's also best to eat something sugar free along with alcohol to slow the rush of alcohol sugars into the bloodstream. Some low fat Doritos made exclusively from corn and some chicken wings might help slow the sugar rush (if consumed along with alcohol, and of course not in excess). Finally, the "post drinking" meal should be preceded by lots of water, even if you're not thirsty. This will minimize the dehydration that makes hangovers far worse, and should include foods free from sugar and low in fat. I know when you have those post-drinking cravings the little voice is begging you to get a chili cheeseburger, fries, and a chocolate shake, but I assure you, if you can discipline yourself to go for an egg white omelet with some whole grain toast or a grilled chicken breast and potato, after the meal the cravings will be gone. Blood sugar will begin to stabilize. Jay Thomas - I am a fitness and nutrition professional who believes in the natural way to be healthier. Brain Injury Attorney Compensation

By Ken Marlborough It is hard to evaluate the damage caused by a brain injury that an individual endures as a result of another person's negligence. The medical bills form a substantial part, apart from the mental anguish and emotional stress. In severe brain injury cases, it is highly advisable that victims take assistance from attorneys or law firms that specialize in handling these cases. Brain injury cases are complicated and the compensation sought is substantial, so it is always recommended to hire specialized attorneys. It is not very easy to prove negligence because victims are mostly not in a state to be a witness or recount what happened to them. Attorneys handling such cases are required to have sound knowledge of the law and the basics of medical science. The procedure for compensation involves obtaining copies of important documents and details of the case. In most brain injury cases, insurance agencies invariably try to avoid payment, or pay as little as possible. They have a method of assessing compensation and may, if they do not refuse outright, primarily offer a small amount as settlement. If victims or their attorneys are not completely prepared, victims are prone to end up with a raw deal. In case of severe brain injuries, victims may not be in a condition to attend to the details and thus, the job has to be left to a competent attorney. It is advisable for victims to make a note of all details concerning the event that resulted in the brain injury. The attorney may utilize these to suit his strategy for the case. The factors to be considered while preparing a case include medical expenses before the claim is submitted, expenses being met presently, the estimated expenses, loss due to absence from work, damage to vehicle or other property, mental agony, and suffering. In order to win a favorable judgment, victims have to provide evidence that the injury was caused by the defendant's inability to act with reasonable care. It becomes easier to negotiate with insurance companies if the case is strong. They are expected to be careful not to allow negotiations to drag on endlessly. There is a time limit from the date of the brain injury to file for compensation. The Dating Double Standard Why Many Men Have No Shot At Love

By Christine Akiteng The more years I work as a dating coach, the more I feel frustrated about the double standards in our dating world. I can clearly see the double standards because I was raised in a whole lot different environment. Its not a perfect world, there are cultural and economic imbalances but trust me, men-women relationships are much more balanced and amicable - and lasting. Personally, I believe that this double standard is the reason why dating is a battle field of the sexes and relationships between men and women are so messed up. As it stands today, the tables are tilted against men. In the Western world (and it's catching up all over the world), women are this all perfect superior helpless creatures badly oppressed by evil, cruel and heartless men. I am not saying that all men are victims , there are some really , cruel and heartless men out there and Ive met some of them (still gives me the creeps) but this article is based on my experience as a dating coach. It could be biased because most of my clients are men, but I think research (and the real world) can back me up on this one. It seems that everything men do is wrong and when women do the same thing its okay. For example a man who says he prefers skinny, petite blondes over a BBW is called names like superficial, shallow and immature; focused on the womens body and sees them as sex objects. But we never really think of women who prefer taller guys (at least 5'10''or taller) with six pack abs and hard gluts as superficial, shallow and immature. Let alone those women who'll only date millionaires. Another example is when a 50 year woman dates a guy 15 years her junior she is considered empowered and changing how people perceive relationships - and she appears on Oprah's show to boast about it. Her younger guy on the other hand is looked on with suspicious askance i.e. someone looking for a mother-figure. But when a 50 year man dates a woman 15 years his junior he is exploiting her. He goes on Jerry Springer's Show to boast about it! Whether it's who should make the first move, who should ask for a date or who should pay for the bill, the formal distance of detachment and dissociation in the dating dynamics makes it virtually impossible to move from first eye-contact to sexual intimacy. The irony is that this double standards are not just affecting men, they are affecting women too, may be even much more so. Just read the kind of dating advice from men for men and you will not miss the bitterness and get back at them undertones. I read some of the advice and can't help but feel deep sadness. This advice from men who mostly have been ignored, despised, dismissed and hurt by women and now found away to "get even" and are training other men to get their revenge on women. Basically they've declared "war" against women. But where does this leave men who do not want revenge but just want to be loved by a good women? men who want to settle down and raise a loving family? The many emails I receive are from men whove distanced themselves from being challenged and stretched. They want love not war but are afraid to take risks and instead chose to protect their vulnerability at all costs. In short, they have allowed fear to direct their search for love. As long as we (both men and women) prefer to remain immersed in this double standard, we filter every trace of love out of our perceptions, interactions and relationships. You can master all the dating, flirting and seduction techniques and tricks in the known world but as long as you allow your frustration, stress, pride, anger, fear, guilt, shame, etc to direct your search for love, you are actually asking the only thing in the universe that doesn't know what love is, to find it for you. Talk about letting the inmates run the asylum! If you are a man or woman looking to truly fall in love, the first place you must go is inside yourself, how you view the opposite sex. Ask yourself these questionsWhere do my attitudes, assumptions, and judgments come from? What are my self-destructive ways of thinking and relating? Do I have the capacity to respond from a place that is connected to something beyond emotional reactivity (frustration, stress, pride, judgmental attitude, etc.), and emotional wounds (anger, fear, guilt, shame, etc)? Once you have identified your self-destructive patterns, start changing them. By asking these probing questions and changing how you view the opposite sex, you will eventually become more aware of your own way of relating and be able to focus all your efforts in a personally significant way that not only makes you attractive to the opposite sex but draws love to you. What You Must Know About Dating a Non Christian

By David King Inevitably, when the topic of dating comes up among Christian teens, the question that always seems to come up is, "Can I date a non-Christian?" Most of the time, the typical verse that is used to answer their question is 2 Corinthians 6:14-15, which says, "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?" Knowing that you aren't supposed to date non Christians is one thing, but actually understanding why the Lord doesn't want you to date and marry a non Christian is another matter, so let's look some of the reasons why you aren't supposed to date an unbeliever. 1) Being unequally yoked (dating a non Christian) can create a constant source of problems and arguments. A believer and an unbeliever are total opposites spiritually, which can result in some major differences in the values that you hold and the things that you believe. This has the potential to produce an atmosphere of strife, instead of love which will have you agreeing with Proverbs 21:19, which says that it is, "Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and ill-tempered wife." 2) We are told to guard our hearts above all else (Proverbs 4:23). Simply put, unbelievers don't have the same moral standards that we as Christians are supposed to have. If you get involved in a relationship with a non Christian, you could open yourself up to a lot of heartache, as their intentions may be less than pure. 3) In 1 Corinthians 15:23, we are told that bad company corrupts good character. Just look at how Solomon's wives turned his heart from the Lord in 1 Kings 11:4. 4) The Lord has a specific person for you. In 1John 4:16, we read that God is love and from James 1:17 we know that God gives us good and perfect gifts, and Ephesians 3:20 says that we know God is able to do above and beyond all that we can ask or even think. If we apply those verses to our dating and relationships, we will come to understand that the Lord loves us, and because of His love for us, He will give us a good and perfect partner (who is spiritually compatible with us), and will go above and beyond all that we can ask or even think in this area. My Portion is Small But I Am Gaining Weight

By Kadence Buchanan Obesity has become the number one issue in contemporary US nutrition magazines as it has been increasing across ages and educational backgrounds in a very fast rate. One of the associated causes of this problem is the big portion sizes provided in restaurants all over the US. According to researchers, people have been found to eat more if their plate's portion is larger than usual; and the fact is that the more one eats the more weight he or she will gain if the amount of exercise conducted is kept constant. Since the human stomach needs approximately twenty minutes before signaling to the brain that is full and we should stop eating, people continue eating the food in their plate just because it happens to be there. If restaurants continue to increase their portions so as to increase their demand, people will continue consuming more and more calories and the essence of eating a "normal" portion will soon be in the past. If one considers that the usual 12 ounce soda cup has recently reached the 20 ounce size, it is not difficult to understand why bigger food portions have directly influenced people's understanding on what should be considered normal or reasonable and what not. From the bread slices to the French-fries one orders at a local take away, increased portions have led consumers to demand to receive more for the price they pay. If one is served the older portions he or she will immediately compare it to the new increased size a restaurant now serves and this will seem tremendously small to fulfill anyone's hunger. In fact, if you serve a five-year old the portion of ice-cream he or she should be served you will probably have to deal with their whining as the smaller scoop size will seem small and inappropriate to cover their need. But this ever-growing problem has to do with the lack of receiving the proper nutritional education from early childhood. If people knew which portions should be enough to cover their daily nutritional needs and they were instructed on how to combine food categories, measure portion sizes, and balancing their meals, the obesity problem would have never risen to its current alarming state. Thus, next time you exit your favorite ice-cream store holding another of its legendary gigantic cones on your hand trying to fulfill your need for something sweet, you should remember that the kid's portion would be more than enough of such a treat and would save you at least an extra 800 calories. Being aware of how increased portions can destroy your silhouette in a rapid rate is the most important step in fighting the problem of obesity before you have to change your wardrobe size. Eat wisely and stop when you feel that your stomach is actually full. You can always take the rest of your portion home in the doggy bag and serve yourself the next day. Get a Life and Leave the Strife

By Philip Lye There is a silent revolution creeping across the landscape of Australia where men and women are waking up to the realization thats there more to life than corporate commitment and the myth of shareholders wealth. Working 12 15 hour days Australia is rapidly approaching the label of the western worlds workaholic nation. Australia is not alone with most developed nations in the grip of this problem. People are burning out and the trappings of wealth have started to loose there attraction. Would you believe it! When you analyze shareholders wealth this usually equates to the chief executive officers of the company increasing their pay packet while the shareholder receives little extra in return. Why are we so foolish to wrap ourselves in the deception of corporate rationalism While it is true that we need finance to live, how much is enough? People are so busy working for the corporation that they fail to notice as the clock ticks by and suddenly they find themselves redundant, expendable, old and unable to enjoy the trappings of success! There is an emerging trend as 70,000 Australians each year leave corporate life and the stresses that accompany it to move away from the city and embrace a life that includes time to relax, time with their partner, children and stepping off the crazy merry-go-round. This is happening in an environment where the western world is rapidly experiencing an ageing population and a skills shortage. This poses a dilemma for corporations. Its time for a reality check, for corporations and government to take notice and be serious about quality of life! Much of our societal problems can be put down to a variety of expediencies and stresses. Look at the evidence; increased medical costs, bullying and harassment escalation, an increase in mental illness, the break-down of parents and their children, governments with funding problems unable to meet the growing demands for services. Take a simple test and see if you have a life. 1. Do you work longer than 50 hours per week (this includes networking etc) 2. Is your thought life preoccupied by work? 3. Do you have difficulty sleeping at night? 4. Do you find it difficult to switch off and engage your partner and family? 5. Is work an escape mechanism for your problems? 6. Have you ever earned that magic amount that you told yourself would set you up for life? 7. How much time do your spend each week in genuine non work related activities? If you answered at least 3 of these truthfully then you are well on your way to overwork, health problems and a diminished quality of life; or so the experts tell us. Take an Inventory of your life; where am I going and what do I really want, what is really important to me. Make changes before time runs out. You do not need to live in regret! Corporations; prove that your human resources are your most valuable assets by how your work them and treat them. No more lip service! Having been a recovered workaholic I can attest that there is life after corporate life and work. You may loose money and possessions but you gain what you always wanted; quality times with your family, happy memories as you grow older, time for relaxation and refreshment and slowing down to appreciate the small blessings of life. It takes courage to admit our failures and to be honest and make changes but you will be among a growing band of people who have made the change. Your will be rewarded! Take the following steps. 1. Be determined to escape the rat race 2. Plan your exit on your grounds and at your timing 3. Dont procrastinate (you will always see you could do with more money) 4. Be deliberate in your planning 5. Take steps take courage and take action. Remember: no person on their deathbed wished they would have worked harder. Research shows that most people regret they did not take time for their family and themselves. Dont be a corporate statistic the price is life - YOURS Visit www.biz-momentum.com for other helpful articles. Drop us a line with your story! Cloves: Clavus in Culina

By Bruce Burnett Cloves, which symbolize dignity, are the unopened flower buds of a tropical tree in the same family as allspice and guavas. The tree is native to the Molucca Islands (also known as the Spice Islands) in the Indian Ocean, but are now cultivated throughout Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Tanzania and Brazil. The word "clove" derives from the Latin word clavus, meaning nail, and refers to the tack-like shape of the dried bud. Cloves first arrived in Europe around the 4th century, but the spice remained a rare luxury until about 1500 when increased sea trade with the orient brought cloves in quantity into European kitchens. In Moluccan folklore, villagers treated blossoming clove trees like a pregnant woman. No man could approach them wearing a hat, no noise could be made near them and no light or fire could be carried past them at night for fear they would not bear fruit. Some Moluccans still plant a clove tree at the birth of a child, with the belief that if the tree flourishes, so will the child. Chinese medicine has used cloves to treat indigestion, diarrhea, hernia, ringworm and athletes foot and other fungal infections. In traditional Indian Ayurvedic medicine, the spice is used to treat respiratory and digestive problems. The brilliant medieval German abbess, composer and herbalist, Hildegard of Bingen recommended cloves in the treatment of gout. Toothache is still effectively treated with cloves as the eugenol in the spice has both analgesic and antiseptic qualities. A bruised clove or some clove oil on cotton wool is held in the mouth near the tooth. Some dentists still use cloves to disinfect ailing root canals and mix clove oil with zinc oxide for temporary fillings. In the kitchen cloves make a powerful contribution to both sweet and savory dishes. Generally whole cloves are removed from the dish before serving. To avoid discoloration of the dish, clear clove oil may be substituted for powdered cloves. As a testimony to the power of the scent of cloves, the clove-studded pomander is a perennial favorite as a room or closet freshener and moth repellent. Cloves have an affinity for green beans, pea soup, root vegetables, fruit compotes and salads, spiced teas, mulled beverages and pickles of all types. People on a bland diet should avoid cloves as the spice can be irritating to the intestinal tract. However, ground cloves, made without the clove head, are milder than the whole spice. Heres a wonderful cold summer soup using cloves and cardamom: Summer Root Vegetable Soup 2 Tbsp. virgin olive oil
2-3 large shallots, peeled and diced
5-6 small carrots, peeled and diced
5-6 small turnips, peeled and diced
1 small jalapeno or other hot pepper, diced
tsp. ground cardamom
tsp. ground cloves
3 cups chicken stock
1 Tbsp. basmati rice
2 cups of milk (or milk substitute such as soy or nut milk). Heat the oil in a large, heavy pot. Saut the shallots and the hot pepper for several minutes, then add the carrots and turnips. Continue cooking for about five minutes before stirring in the spices, chicken stock and rice. Bring to a boil, then lower heat, cover and simmer for 25 minutes. Allow the soup to cool before blending it in batches until smooth. Add the milk and chill thoroughly. Garnish with a little fresh parsley. Heres a great lemon and ginger pickle to serve with a curry or other spicy dish (its also great on cheese sandwiches!): Spiced Honey Lemon & Ginger Pickles 10 medium lemons, washed, dried and cut into quarter inch slices without peeling (discard as many seeds as possible as these will make the syrup bitter) 1 cup plus 1 Tbsp. honey
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 cinnamon stick, broken into several pieces
tsp. whole allspice
3 Tbsp. fresh ginger, chopped fine
5 whole cloves
tsp. of salt. Combine the honey, vinegar and salt in a non-reactive (e.g. glass, porcelain or stainless steel) saucepan. Tie the spices in a cheesecloth bag and add to the pan. Boil for five minutes. Add the lemons and ginger and bring back to the boil for another minute, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon. Discard the spices, pack the lemons into hot, sterilized half-pint jars, cover with the syrup and seal at once. Another excellent preserve recipe using cloves is the following one for spiced gooseberries courtesy of Gingerich Farms in Canby, Oregon. The recipe can be used as a jam or syrup or as an accompaniment to a meat dish. Spiced Gooseberries 2 quarts of gooseberries
4 and a half cups of brown sugar
1 cup of cider vinegar
2 inch cinnamon stick
8 cloves
tsp. ground nutmeg
2 whole allspice. Wash the berries, remove the stems and blossom ends. Place sugar, vinegar and spices together in a large pot, add half a cup of water and boil for five minutes. Add the gooseberries and simmer for 30 to 40 minutes. When the berries are tender and the syrup is thick, strain out the spices and turn into hot sterile jars and seal. Lose Weight With Hypnosis - How Hypnosis Can Help You Lose Weight

By Trevor John It sounds too good to be true: put on a hypnosis track, sit back, listen to the track and lose weight... The big question is: "can hypnosis really help you to lose weight?" And the short answer to that question is a definite "yes". So your next question is likely to be "Are there any catches to the process?". Again, the answer is "yes". The main point where people fall down on any diet is by not following it or by giving up as soon as they deviate from their diet. We're generally pretty weak willed and losing weight is no exception to this. Sure, the dedicated people you see on weight loss adverts have done it. But they are amongst a very small percent of people for whom weight loss has worked. Think about it for a minute, if diets worked for most people then the bookshops wouldn't be full of how to lose weight books. Anyway, back to how hypnosis can help you with your weight loss goals. Hypnosis is best combined with a regular diet plan. The two work well together because hypnosis will gradually plant ideas in your mind. Images of a new, slimmer you will start to become part of your normal thought process. Once this starts to happen, you'll find yourself automatically choosing a healthier option when you next eat. So the extra size chocolate cake will (amazingly) become less attractive to you. That doesn't mean you'll start craving lettuce leaves instead. So you can breathe a sigh of relief on that count. It just means that hypnosis works by planting newer, better, healthier ideas in your subconscious. These will bring about a gradual change to the way you think about food. Couple that with a diet plan that gives you a good, healthy diet and you'll find the magic starts to work with a lot less effort than you've used in the past. And that has to be a good thing! How To Help A Stressed Or Depressed Loved One

By Chris Green Having lived with a depressed partner for 3 years and
suffered anxiety and depression for 5 years, I've
experienced both sides. In this article, I'll show you
exactly what you can do - and, what you shouldn't do - to
help your loved one. 1. Please, however frustrated you feel, please never say to
a depressed or stressed person: "Come on, snap out of it.
What have you got to be worried or sad about anyway. People
have it much worse than you." Please understand that these
illnesses cannot be "snapped out of." You wouldn't say this
to someone with high blood pressure or pneumonia because you
know it isn't that simple. Stress, depression and anxiety
are real illnesses that have specific causes. Asking someone
to snap out of it makes that person feel inadequate or that
they're doing something wrong. Absolutely not so. Comparing
their circumstances to people who are suffering greater
hardship is no use either. I couldn't have given two hoots
about other people when I was ill because their
circumstances meant nothing to me. I was struggling to solve
my own problems and couldn't see anything else. Knowing that
others are starving, are terminally ill, or suffer in
squalor didn't matter a jot because they didn't make my
problems go away. One more thing about such statements: they
confront the sufferer with their illness and they put
pressure on them. This will cause sufferers to retreat
further and further into their own world. Better is to
offer love and support: "I'm always here if you need me or
want to talk." And 3 little words can mean so much: "I love
you." I didn't hear them for 3 years and believe me, I
missed them so very much. 2. As a loved one, it is totally natural to want to
understand what is happening. Many loved ones conduct
research into these illnesses to develop understanding.
Nothing wrong with that whatsoever. However, a problem can
arise if you start to impose your knowledge on the sufferer.
This happens when you observe certain behaviors and habits
performed by sufferers and comment on why they are behaving
in such a way. For example, you hear a sufferer put
themselves down, so you say "That's a part of your illness.
I've been reading about it and self-deprecation is one of
the reasons why people become depressed. You need to stop
putting yourself down." Again, this is confrontational and
puts the sufferer under pressure. All they'll do is dismiss
your comments and clam up whenever you're around as they'll
feel they're being scrutinised. A better way is to challenge
them very gently by reminding them of a time when they did
something good. For example, you hear a sufferer say: "I'm
useless, I never get anything right." You can say "Sure you
do, hey, remember the time when you...". Do you see the
difference in approach? The first is more like a doctor
assessing a patient, the second is just a normal, natural
conversation and doesn't mention stress, depression or
anxiety. This is very, very helpful as it shifts focus from
a bad event: "I'm useless..." to a good one: "remember
when.." without exerting pressure. 3. Finally, you may find a resource - a book, a video, a
supplement etc. - that you think will help someone to beat
their illness. Perfectly natural. But there's a problem. It
confronts the sufferer with their illness and puts them
under pressure to do something about it. The result of this
will be resentment followed by retreat into their own world.
Isolation is a part of these illnesses. Sometimes, you just
can't bear to be around people. My ex-partner used to sleep
in a dark room for an entire weekend because she just
couldn't handle anyone being around her. "I bore people,
I've nothing to say of interest and I don't want anyone
asking me how I'm feeling. I just want to be on my own." I
know, it cuts you to ribbons when you hear such words from
someone you care deeply about. But please, you must resist
the urge to DIRECTLY give them a resource you think will
help them. For someone to emerge from these illnesses, they
have to make the decision themselves. A direct offer will
more often than not be refused. So, if you find something
you think will help, leave it lying around somewhere your
loved one will find it. The idea here is for them to CHOOSE
by themselves to investigate further. Such an INDIRECT
approach is more effective because once again, there is no
pressure, no reminder, no confrontation. It is the sufferer
who takes a willing first step towards recovery. It is so hard to understand and reach loved ones when
they're caught up in these illnesses but please believe me,
these ideas are very effective and they will help. See you next time. Looking to beat stress, anxiety or depression QUICKLY?

How to Create the Perfect Invitation for Your Party

By Kelli Mahoney Invitations are a key part of planning any event, and they range from hand written postcards and e-invites to professionally printed invitations and singing telegrams. Despite the wide range of invitation styles, there are a few key points you need to remember when creating invitations for your event. What Type of Party? You are planning the party, so you already know, but your guests dont. Every party has a purpose, so let your potential guests know. Is it a birthday party? Anniversary party? A Baby Shower? Wedding? A simple get-together just for the heck of it? Make sure you are clear on the focus of the celebration. Who is the Party For? You know the type of party, but do let your guest know who the party is for. Just because you are throwing an anniversary party on the 24th of June doesnt mean the world knows it is for John and Jane Doe. Be sure to include the people you are celebrating on your invitations. The Date This seems obvious, right? Sure. Yet year after year I get invitations that fail to give the date of the event. Sometimes it is so obvious we overlook it. The Time Like the date, the time is also a commonly missed item. Be clear on the time the party starts and ends. If you are having an open ended party, state that. Also, if you are planning a surprise party, you need to be sure you state a time when the guest of honor is to arrive. This will prevent people from arriving at a time that will ruin the surprise. Where is the Party? A party is a lot of funif people actually show up. They need to know where to go for the celebrations, so make sure you put the location on the invite in the form of the name of the venue and the address. If you are feeling helpful or if you are planning a more formal event, it is helpful to put in directions, too. RSVP When I plan an event, I like to set an RSVP date. It helps me to know exactly how much space, food, and other items I will need. I confer with my caterers and venue to know exactly what date I will need to give the final tally, and I set the RSVP date for one week prior. This way I can contact people who forget to RSVP in that week to get my final number. Also, be sure to include a phone number or e-mail where guests can RSVP. Other Instructions As you plan your party, be sure you give other pertinent information to your guests. For instance, if it is a surprise party, remind people to not tell the guest of honor. Also, there may be special parking situations or gifts to bring. If you are planning a shower or wedding, the guest of honor may be registered somewhere specific, so include that information on the invitations. Dress codes and limits on children should also be included on invitations. The key to good invitations is to give people all the information they need to know before they get to the party. Guests are more comfortable coming to a party where they know what to expect versus facing the total unknown, and invitations fill that void. The Best Natural Skin Care Product For Dry Skin

By Helen Hecker Skin is not dry because it lacks oil, but because it lacks water. Symptoms most associated with Xeroderma (dry skin) are scaling, which is the visible peeling of the outer skin layer, itching and cracks in the skin. The good news is that today, there are several types of natural treatments to choose from for your dry skin. Skin also harbors many nerve endings that provide the sense of touch and heat. Skin is considered one of the most important parts of the body. The skin is often known as "the largest organ of the human body". The dermis is tightly connected to the epidermis by a basement membrane. The dermis is the layer of skin beneath the epidermis that consists of connective tissue and cushions the body from stress and strain. Epidermis is the outermost layer of the skin. The skin loses moisture and may crack and peel, or become irritated and inflamed. Forced-air furnaces make skin even drier. Environmental factors such as exposure to sun, wind, cold, chemicals, or cosmetics, or excessive bathing with harsh soaps, can cause dry skin. Nutritional deficiencies, especially deficiencies of vitamin A and the B vitamins, can also contribute to dry skin. Use as little soap as possible limiting its use to armpits and genitals. Drink plenty of water every day. Use a humidifier if the air is dry. Eat at least one organic apple with the skin on every day. Consider taking cod liver oil or fish oil supplements every day. Concentrating on a diet of lots of fruits and vegetables (preferably uncooked) and no junk food, should give you an observable improvement within 30 days. Good skin is often a reflection of a good digestive system. Fatty acids are particularly important to people with dry skin. Use bath oils and moisturizers, especially coconut oil, which is the best natural product fr dry skin, at least daily. Also use a thin layer of coconut oil under your make-up to moisturize your skin all day. Apply a thin layer of coconut oil and massage it deep into the skin. Apply coconut oil anytime to heal and soothe your skin. Sunlight, water and air play an important role in keeping the skin healthy. The skin must be regularly cleaned or it'll become cracked or inflamed. The skin supports its own ecosystems of microorganisms, including yeasts and bacteria, which cannot be removed by any amount of cleaning. Skin doctors are called dermatologists. Usually, these days, we can take care of dry skin without seeing our doctor, but sometimes we can't avoid it. See your doctor or naturopathic doctor if your skin doesn't improve in spite of your best efforts. Things You Should Know About Hoodia

By Jens Wegner Hoodias potential was detected when the CSIR were making a study on the food eaten by the bushmen from the desert. This plant was recently discovered as a possible option for those who want to loose some weight. Hoodia was used for many centuries by a tribe from the Kalahari Desert from South Africa as a hunger suppressant. Hoodias effect is that the repression of the thirst and hunger. This is the reason why this plant was used by local people on long trips. It seems like they were also feeding their hunting dogs with hoodia so that the animals would not feel the necessity to eat either. Hoodia was also useful during times of famine and it is used nowadays too. But if you plan to use hoodia you have to be very cautious because on a long term it might be bad for your organism. Hoodia will reduce your appetite but that does not mean that you would not eat food anymore. If you take care not to make from hoodia your only food supply, it will not have any negative effects on you. Hoodia is very similar to cactus without being related to it. It is definitely not a drug, it is a herb that contains a molecule called P57. This molecule is the cause for the appetite suppressant characteristics of hoodia. It has the effect of glucose, signalizing to your brain that you are full. Another thing that you should know is that P57 is found only in a specific variety of hoodia named gordonii. This variety of hoodia is the only one that has spines and it is succulent.
The hoodias effects were not discovered until recently but there are already some researchers who try to isolate the molecule P57 to manufacture a pharmaceutical drug. The original taste of hoodia is acrid but the plant is sold as a supplement in capsule or as a liquid. The liquid form works sooner than the pills and has a good taste. It is usually combined with green tea extract because this way the results are accelerated more. The gordonii variety of hoodia is protected by law in South Africa and Namibia because it is rare. The only way to harvest or grow it is with a permit. This situation makes hoodia gordonii to be quite expensive in its pure form. But the plant has the ability to decrease your appetite by approximately one thousand calories a day. There were made many experiments, first on animals, then on humans. The general results show that hoodia really helps in loosing weight. Another result of the tests shows that even people that suffer from diabetes can use hoodia with no problem. Many people that used hoodia were very satisfied with the results this supplement had on them. The supplement is more effective when you combine it with a healthy diet and regular exercise. Download Free Mosquito Ringtones For Cell Phone

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Tsan_Trinh]Tsan Trinh Free mosquito ringtones: the cell phone ringtones that have shocked the world this year are the high-pitch mosquito ringtones famous for being the ringtones that only kids can hear. Ringtones are the sound made by cell phones to indicate incoming calls. Modern cell phone ringtones have become extremely diverse, leading to phone personalization and customization. You can now personalize your cell phone with free mosquito ringtones. Mosquito MP3 ringtones are very popular ringtones among teens. Indeed, high frequency mosquito ringtones can often only be heard by teenagers and younger people, but leaves most of persons over twenty years of age unaffected. The free mosquito MP3 ringtones are cell phone ringtones that are too high pitched for most adults to hear. In fact, authentic mosquito ringtones find its origin in a technology that was originally conceived to repel loitering teens from shopping malls. The mosquito device emits a modulated sound that proves to be a great annoyance to youngsters, but leaves most over twenty years of age safe. As people age, they are less able to hear high frequency sounds, making this particular sound annoying only to teenagers or kids. Certain frequency tones especially high frequency ones are apparently undetectable to the human ear after a certain age. It is therefore some kind of ultrasonic teenager repellent. High pitched mosquito ringtones are primarily used in the classroom, allowing those students to be alerted of incoming SMS or MMS on their cell phones without the knowledge of their teachers. But also in some public places where cell phone ringing are forbidden. It is perfect for signaling the arrival of a text message without being detected by an adult. But cell phone users need to responsible. It is not because adults can't hear those kind of mosquito ringtones that they can feel free to get their cell phones anywhere and especially in places such as hospitals or on planes where cell phones can cause electronic interferences. Also, as you can imagine, this "stealth technic" is not 100% perfect. You may still get caught if the teacher notices your classmates looking at you or sees an unusual behaviour from you. The teacher may certainly come to the idea you are using buzz mosquito ringtones. Some classmates may also find your official mosquito ringtones disturbing them. Recently, Phat Tonez removed the adult-proof mosquito ringtones from sale due to waves of complaints. There's still an alternative to downloadable mosquito ringtones for cell phones: vibrating alerts. It may always be useful in some noisy environments, not to mention for the hearing impaired that wouldn't be able to listen the alarm mosquito noise ringtones anyway. Calorie Shifting As A Method Of "Diet Weight Control"

By David K. Snyder There are many types of diets on the market today claiming to be your one method of diet weight control. There are also hundreds of pills and fad diets out there to go along with them. But how many truly work? Low fat diets are being used by hundreds of thousands of overweight people as we speak. Has it curbed the overweight epidemic we are facing? Not even slowed it down. There are thousands of low fat items in the groceries and restaurants. We are consuming more low fat products than ever. Where are we as a society today? In the last 30 years our overweight population has gone from approximately 1 in 8 to approximately 1 in 2. This means we currently have over 100 million overweight Americans and the world is laughing at us. Starvation diets, including low calorie and low carb diets, just arent working. We see rapid weight loss then the weight gain starts all over. Just like a yoyo. We gain and we lose.we gain and we lose. Lets look at a revolutionary new weight loss idea. It is called calorie shifting. Our bodys metabolism adjusts to what we have eaten in the last few days. It has no way of knowing what we are going to eat tomorrow or the next day so it has to go on history. So what happens if we trick it into speeding up the eat foods that have calories that are rapidly consumed. It consumes those calories and then moves to consume our stored fat calories. We then continually change our calorie intake on a daily basis. We change the types of calories we are consuming as well as when we consume them. This constant changing causes our bodys metabolism in high gear and causes us to keep losing weight. This idea makes sense as we look at the other diets we have seen on the market lately. Most of them encourage us to starve our body which causes our metabolism to slow expecting us to not get enough food the next day. For example we eat 2500 calories normally then we drop our calorie intake to 1000. Our body gears down to the 1000 level and burns only 1000. When we return to the 2500 calorie diet our body is still at the 1000 calorie level and the extra 1500 calories get stored as fat. We then gain our weight back while our body adjusts. We have just defeated ourselves in reaching that much sought after goal of weight loss. David Snyder is an RN who is looking at the weight loss epidemic facing society. Visit my blog at http://loseweight-dave.blogspot.com to see more on weight loss and calorie shifting. You will also find links to your copies of the program described.
