Get a Life and Leave the Strife

By Philip Lye There is a silent revolution creeping across the landscape of Australia where men and women are waking up to the realization thats there more to life than corporate commitment and the myth of shareholders wealth. Working 12 15 hour days Australia is rapidly approaching the label of the western worlds workaholic nation. Australia is not alone with most developed nations in the grip of this problem. People are burning out and the trappings of wealth have started to loose there attraction. Would you believe it! When you analyze shareholders wealth this usually equates to the chief executive officers of the company increasing their pay packet while the shareholder receives little extra in return. Why are we so foolish to wrap ourselves in the deception of corporate rationalism While it is true that we need finance to live, how much is enough? People are so busy working for the corporation that they fail to notice as the clock ticks by and suddenly they find themselves redundant, expendable, old and unable to enjoy the trappings of success! There is an emerging trend as 70,000 Australians each year leave corporate life and the stresses that accompany it to move away from the city and embrace a life that includes time to relax, time with their partner, children and stepping off the crazy merry-go-round. This is happening in an environment where the western world is rapidly experiencing an ageing population and a skills shortage. This poses a dilemma for corporations. Its time for a reality check, for corporations and government to take notice and be serious about quality of life! Much of our societal problems can be put down to a variety of expediencies and stresses. Look at the evidence; increased medical costs, bullying and harassment escalation, an increase in mental illness, the break-down of parents and their children, governments with funding problems unable to meet the growing demands for services. Take a simple test and see if you have a life. 1. Do you work longer than 50 hours per week (this includes networking etc) 2. Is your thought life preoccupied by work? 3. Do you have difficulty sleeping at night? 4. Do you find it difficult to switch off and engage your partner and family? 5. Is work an escape mechanism for your problems? 6. Have you ever earned that magic amount that you told yourself would set you up for life? 7. How much time do your spend each week in genuine non work related activities? If you answered at least 3 of these truthfully then you are well on your way to overwork, health problems and a diminished quality of life; or so the experts tell us. Take an Inventory of your life; where am I going and what do I really want, what is really important to me. Make changes before time runs out. You do not need to live in regret! Corporations; prove that your human resources are your most valuable assets by how your work them and treat them. No more lip service! Having been a recovered workaholic I can attest that there is life after corporate life and work. You may loose money and possessions but you gain what you always wanted; quality times with your family, happy memories as you grow older, time for relaxation and refreshment and slowing down to appreciate the small blessings of life. It takes courage to admit our failures and to be honest and make changes but you will be among a growing band of people who have made the change. Your will be rewarded! Take the following steps. 1. Be determined to escape the rat race 2. Plan your exit on your grounds and at your timing 3. Dont procrastinate (you will always see you could do with more money) 4. Be deliberate in your planning 5. Take steps take courage and take action. Remember: no person on their deathbed wished they would have worked harder. Research shows that most people regret they did not take time for their family and themselves. Cloves: Clavus in Culina

By Bruce Burnett Cloves, which symbolize dignity, are the unopened flower buds of a tropical tree in the same family as allspice and guavas. The tree is native to the Molucca Islands (also known as the Spice Islands) in the Indian Ocean, but are now cultivated throughout Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Tanzania and Brazil. The word "clove" derives from the Latin word clavus, meaning nail, and refers to the tack-like shape of the dried bud. Cloves first arrived in Europe around the 4th century, but the spice remained a rare luxury until about 1500 when increased sea trade with the orient brought cloves in quantity into European kitchens. In Moluccan folklore, villagers treated blossoming clove trees like a pregnant woman. No man could approach them wearing a hat, no noise could be made near them and no light or fire could be carried past them at night for fear they would not bear fruit. Some Moluccans still plant a clove tree at the birth of a child, with the belief that if the tree flourishes, so will the child. Chinese medicine has used cloves to treat indigestion, diarrhea, hernia, ringworm and athletes foot and other fungal infections. In traditional Indian Ayurvedic medicine, the spice is used to treat respiratory and digestive problems. The brilliant medieval German abbess, composer and herbalist, Hildegard of Bingen recommended cloves in the treatment of gout. Toothache is still effectively treated with cloves as the eugenol in the spice has both analgesic and antiseptic qualities. A bruised clove or some clove oil on cotton wool is held in the mouth near the tooth. Some dentists still use cloves to disinfect ailing root canals and mix clove oil with zinc oxide for temporary fillings. In the kitchen cloves make a powerful contribution to both sweet and savory dishes. Generally whole cloves are removed from the dish before serving. To avoid discoloration of the dish, clear clove oil may be substituted for powdered cloves. As a testimony to the power of the scent of cloves, the clove-studded pomander is a perennial favorite as a room or closet freshener and moth repellent. Cloves have an affinity for green beans, pea soup, root vegetables, fruit compotes and salads, spiced teas, mulled beverages and pickles of all types. People on a bland diet should avoid cloves as the spice can be irritating to the intestinal tract. However, ground cloves, made without the clove head, are milder than the whole spice. Heres a wonderful cold summer soup using cloves and cardamom: Summer Root Vegetable Soup 2 Tbsp. virgin olive oil
2-3 large shallots, peeled and diced
5-6 small carrots, peeled and diced
5-6 small turnips, peeled and diced
1 small jalapeno or other hot pepper, diced
tsp. ground cardamom
tsp. ground cloves
3 cups chicken stock
1 Tbsp. basmati rice
2 cups of milk (or milk substitute such as soy or nut milk). Heat the oil in a large, heavy pot. Saut the shallots and the hot pepper for several minutes, then add the carrots and turnips. Continue cooking for about five minutes before stirring in the spices, chicken stock and rice. Bring to a boil, then lower heat, cover and simmer for 25 minutes. Allow the soup to cool before blending it in batches until smooth. Add the milk and chill thoroughly. Garnish with a little fresh parsley. Heres a great lemon and ginger pickle to serve with a curry or other spicy dish (its also great on cheese sandwiches!): Spiced Honey Lemon & Ginger Pickles 10 medium lemons, washed, dried and cut into quarter inch slices without peeling (discard as many seeds as possible as these will make the syrup bitter) 1 cup plus 1 Tbsp. honey
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 cinnamon stick, broken into several pieces
tsp. whole allspice
3 Tbsp. fresh ginger, chopped fine
5 whole cloves
tsp. of salt. Combine the honey, vinegar and salt in a non-reactive (e.g. glass, porcelain or stainless steel) saucepan. Tie the spices in a cheesecloth bag and add to the pan. Boil for five minutes. Add the lemons and ginger and bring back to the boil for another minute, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon. Discard the spices, pack the lemons into hot, sterilized half-pint jars, cover with the syrup and seal at once. Another excellent preserve recipe using cloves is the following one for spiced gooseberries courtesy of Gingerich Farms in Canby, Oregon. The recipe can be used as a jam or syrup or as an accompaniment to a meat dish. Spiced Gooseberries 2 quarts of gooseberries
4 and a half cups of brown sugar
1 cup of cider vinegar
2 inch cinnamon stick
8 cloves
tsp. ground nutmeg
2 whole allspice. Wash the berries, remove the stems and blossom ends. Place sugar, vinegar and spices together in a large pot, add half a cup of water and boil for five minutes. Add the gooseberries and simmer for 30 to 40 minutes. When the berries are tender and the syrup is thick, strain out the spices and turn into hot sterile jars and seal. Lose Weight With Hypnosis - How Hypnosis Can Help You Lose Weight

By Trevor John It sounds too good to be true: put on a hypnosis track, sit back, listen to the track and lose weight... The big question is: "can hypnosis really help you to lose weight?" And the short answer to that question is a definite "yes". So your next question is likely to be "Are there any catches to the process?". Again, the answer is "yes". The main point where people fall down on any diet is by not following it or by giving up as soon as they deviate from their diet. We're generally pretty weak willed and losing weight is no exception to this. Sure, the dedicated people you see on weight loss adverts have done it. But they are amongst a very small percent of people for whom weight loss has worked. Think about it for a minute, if diets worked for most people then the bookshops wouldn't be full of how to lose weight books. Anyway, back to how hypnosis can help you with your weight loss goals. Hypnosis is best combined with a regular diet plan. The two work well together because hypnosis will gradually plant ideas in your mind. Images of a new, slimmer you will start to become part of your normal thought process. Once this starts to happen, you'll find yourself automatically choosing a healthier option when you next eat. So the extra size chocolate cake will (amazingly) become less attractive to you. That doesn't mean you'll start craving lettuce leaves instead. So you can breathe a sigh of relief on that count. It just means that hypnosis works by planting newer, better, healthier ideas in your subconscious. These will bring about a gradual change to the way you think about food. Couple that with a diet plan that gives you a good, healthy diet and you'll find the magic starts to work with a lot less effort than you've used in the past. And that has to be a good thing! Discover more about losing weight with hypnosis, including resources that will help you to achieve your ideal weight. How To Help A Stressed Or Depressed Loved One

By Chris Green Having lived with a depressed partner for 3 years and
suffered anxiety and depression for 5 years, I've
experienced both sides. In this article, I'll show you
exactly what you can do - and, what you shouldn't do - to
help your loved one. 1. Please, however frustrated you feel, please never say to
a depressed or stressed person: "Come on, snap out of it.
What have you got to be worried or sad about anyway. People
have it much worse than you." Please understand that these
illnesses cannot be "snapped out of." You wouldn't say this
to someone with high blood pressure or pneumonia because you
know it isn't that simple. Stress, depression and anxiety
are real illnesses that have specific causes. Asking someone
to snap out of it makes that person feel inadequate or that
they're doing something wrong. Absolutely not so. Comparing
their circumstances to people who are suffering greater
hardship is no use either. I couldn't have given two hoots
about other people when I was ill because their
circumstances meant nothing to me. I was struggling to solve
my own problems and couldn't see anything else. Knowing that
others are starving, are terminally ill, or suffer in
squalor didn't matter a jot because they didn't make my
problems go away. One more thing about such statements: they
confront the sufferer with their illness and they put
pressure on them. This will cause sufferers to retreat
further and further into their own world. Better is to
offer love and support: "I'm always here if you need me or
want to talk." And 3 little words can mean so much: "I love
you." I didn't hear them for 3 years and believe me, I
missed them so very much. 2. As a loved one, it is totally natural to want to
understand what is happening. Many loved ones conduct
research into these illnesses to develop understanding.
Nothing wrong with that whatsoever. However, a problem can
arise if you start to impose your knowledge on the sufferer.
This happens when you observe certain behaviors and habits
performed by sufferers and comment on why they are behaving
in such a way. For example, you hear a sufferer put
themselves down, so you say "That's a part of your illness.
I've been reading about it and self-deprecation is one of
the reasons why people become depressed. You need to stop
putting yourself down." Again, this is confrontational and
puts the sufferer under pressure. All they'll do is dismiss
your comments and clam up whenever you're around as they'll
feel they're being scrutinised. A better way is to challenge
them very gently by reminding them of a time when they did
something good. For example, you hear a sufferer say: "I'm
useless, I never get anything right." You can say "Sure you
do, hey, remember the time when you...". Do you see the
difference in approach? The first is more like a doctor
assessing a patient, the second is just a normal, natural
conversation and doesn't mention stress, depression or
anxiety. This is very, very helpful as it shifts focus from
a bad event: "I'm useless..." to a good one: "remember
when.." without exerting pressure. 3. Finally, you may find a resource - a book, a video, a
supplement etc. - that you think will help someone to beat
their illness. Perfectly natural. But there's a problem. It
confronts the sufferer with their illness and puts them
under pressure to do something about it. The result of this
will be resentment followed by retreat into their own world.
Isolation is a part of these illnesses. Sometimes, you just
can't bear to be around people. My ex-partner used to sleep
in a dark room for an entire weekend because she just
couldn't handle anyone being around her. "I bore people,
I've nothing to say of interest and I don't want anyone
asking me how I'm feeling. I just want to be on my own." I
know, it cuts you to ribbons when you hear such words from
someone you care deeply about. But please, you must resist
the urge to DIRECTLY give them a resource you think will
help them. For someone to emerge from these illnesses, they
have to make the decision themselves. A direct offer will
more often than not be refused. So, if you find something
you think will help, leave it lying around somewhere your
loved one will find it. The idea here is for them to CHOOSE
by themselves to investigate further. Such an INDIRECT
approach is more effective because once again, there is no
pressure, no reminder, no confrontation. It is the sufferer
who takes a willing first step towards recovery. It is so hard to understand and reach loved ones when
they're caught up in these illnesses but please believe me,
these ideas are very effective and they will help. See you next time. Looking to beat stress, anxiety or depression QUICKLY?

How to Create the Perfect Invitation for Your Party

By Kelli Mahoney Invitations are a key part of planning any event, and they range from hand written postcards and e-invites to professionally printed invitations and singing telegrams. Despite the wide range of invitation styles, there are a few key points you need to remember when creating invitations for your event. What Type of Party? You are planning the party, so you already know, but your guests dont. Every party has a purpose, so let your potential guests know. Is it a birthday party? Anniversary party? A Baby Shower? Wedding? A simple get-together just for the heck of it? Make sure you are clear on the focus of the celebration. Who is the Party For? You know the type of party, but do let your guest know who the party is for. Just because you are throwing an anniversary party on the 24th of June doesnt mean the world knows it is for John and Jane Doe. Be sure to include the people you are celebrating on your invitations. The Date This seems obvious, right? Sure. Yet year after year I get invitations that fail to give the date of the event. Sometimes it is so obvious we overlook it. The Time Like the date, the time is also a commonly missed item. Be clear on the time the party starts and ends. If you are having an open ended party, state that. Also, if you are planning a surprise party, you need to be sure you state a time when the guest of honor is to arrive. This will prevent people from arriving at a time that will ruin the surprise. Where is the Party? A party is a lot of funif people actually show up. They need to know where to go for the celebrations, so make sure you put the location on the invite in the form of the name of the venue and the address. If you are feeling helpful or if you are planning a more formal event, it is helpful to put in directions, too. RSVP When I plan an event, I like to set an RSVP date. It helps me to know exactly how much space, food, and other items I will need. I confer with my caterers and venue to know exactly what date I will need to give the final tally, and I set the RSVP date for one week prior. This way I can contact people who forget to RSVP in that week to get my final number. Also, be sure to include a phone number or e-mail where guests can RSVP. Other Instructions As you plan your party, be sure you give other pertinent information to your guests. For instance, if it is a surprise party, remind people to not tell the guest of honor. Also, there may be special parking situations or gifts to bring. If you are planning a shower or wedding, the guest of honor may be registered somewhere specific, so include that information on the invitations. Dress codes and limits on children should also be included on invitations. The key to good invitations is to give people all the information they need to know before they get to the party. Guests are more comfortable coming to a party where they know what to expect versus facing the total unknown, and invitations fill that void. The Best Natural Skin Care Product For Dry Skin

By Helen Hecker Skin is not dry because it lacks oil, but because it lacks water. Symptoms most associated with Xeroderma (dry skin) are scaling, which is the visible peeling of the outer skin layer, itching and cracks in the skin. The good news is that today, there are several types of natural treatments to choose from for your dry skin. Skin also harbors many nerve endings that provide the sense of touch and heat. Skin is considered one of the most important parts of the body. The skin is often known as "the largest organ of the human body". The dermis is tightly connected to the epidermis by a basement membrane. The dermis is the layer of skin beneath the epidermis that consists of connective tissue and cushions the body from stress and strain. Epidermis is the outermost layer of the skin. The skin loses moisture and may crack and peel, or become irritated and inflamed. Forced-air furnaces make skin even drier. Environmental factors such as exposure to sun, wind, cold, chemicals, or cosmetics, or excessive bathing with harsh soaps, can cause dry skin. Nutritional deficiencies, especially deficiencies of vitamin A and the B vitamins, can also contribute to dry skin. Use as little soap as possible limiting its use to armpits and genitals. Drink plenty of water every day. Use a humidifier if the air is dry. Eat at least one organic apple with the skin on every day. Consider taking cod liver oil or fish oil supplements every day. Concentrating on a diet of lots of fruits and vegetables (preferably uncooked) and no junk food, should give you an observable improvement within 30 days. Good skin is often a reflection of a good digestive system. Fatty acids are particularly important to people with dry skin. Use bath oils and moisturizers, especially coconut oil, which is the best natural product fr dry skin, at least daily. Also use a thin layer of coconut oil under your make-up to moisturize your skin all day. Apply a thin layer of coconut oil and massage it deep into the skin. Apply coconut oil anytime to heal and soothe your skin. Sunlight, water and air play an important role in keeping the skin healthy. The skin must be regularly cleaned or it'll become cracked or inflamed. The skin supports its own ecosystems of microorganisms, including yeasts and bacteria, which cannot be removed by any amount of cleaning. Skin doctors are called dermatologists. Usually, these days, we can take care of dry skin without seeing our doctor, but sometimes we can't avoid it. See your doctor or naturopathic doctor if your skin doesn't improve in spite of your best efforts. Things You Should Know About Hoodia

By Jens Wegner Hoodias potential was detected when the CSIR were making a study on the food eaten by the bushmen from the desert. This plant was recently discovered as a possible option for those who want to loose some weight. Hoodia was used for many centuries by a tribe from the Kalahari Desert from South Africa as a hunger suppressant. Hoodias effect is that the repression of the thirst and hunger. This is the reason why this plant was used by local people on long trips. It seems like they were also feeding their hunting dogs with hoodia so that the animals would not feel the necessity to eat either. Hoodia was also useful during times of famine and it is used nowadays too. But if you plan to use hoodia you have to be very cautious because on a long term it might be bad for your organism. Hoodia will reduce your appetite but that does not mean that you would not eat food anymore. If you take care not to make from hoodia your only food supply, it will not have any negative effects on you. Hoodia is very similar to cactus without being related to it. It is definitely not a drug, it is a herb that contains a molecule called P57. This molecule is the cause for the appetite suppressant characteristics of hoodia. It has the effect of glucose, signalizing to your brain that you are full. Another thing that you should know is that P57 is found only in a specific variety of hoodia named gordonii. This variety of hoodia is the only one that has spines and it is succulent.
The hoodias effects were not discovered until recently but there are already some researchers who try to isolate the molecule P57 to manufacture a pharmaceutical drug. The original taste of hoodia is acrid but the plant is sold as a supplement in capsule or as a liquid. The liquid form works sooner than the pills and has a good taste. It is usually combined with green tea extract because this way the results are accelerated more. The gordonii variety of hoodia is protected by law in South Africa and Namibia because it is rare. The only way to harvest or grow it is with a permit. This situation makes hoodia gordonii to be quite expensive in its pure form. But the plant has the ability to decrease your appetite by approximately one thousand calories a day. There were made many experiments, first on animals, then on humans. The general results show that hoodia really helps in loosing weight. Another result of the tests shows that even people that suffer from diabetes can use hoodia with no problem. Many people that used hoodia were very satisfied with the results this supplement had on them. The supplement is more effective when you combine it with a healthy diet and regular exercise. Download Free Mosquito Ringtones For Cell Phone

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Tsan_Trinh]Tsan Trinh Free mosquito ringtones: the cell phone ringtones that have shocked the world this year are the high-pitch mosquito ringtones famous for being the ringtones that only kids can hear. Ringtones are the sound made by cell phones to indicate incoming calls. Modern cell phone ringtones have become extremely diverse, leading to phone personalization and customization. You can now personalize your cell phone with free mosquito ringtones. Mosquito MP3 ringtones are very popular ringtones among teens. Indeed, high frequency mosquito ringtones can often only be heard by teenagers and younger people, but leaves most of persons over twenty years of age unaffected. The free mosquito MP3 ringtones are cell phone ringtones that are too high pitched for most adults to hear. In fact, authentic mosquito ringtones find its origin in a technology that was originally conceived to repel loitering teens from shopping malls. The mosquito device emits a modulated sound that proves to be a great annoyance to youngsters, but leaves most over twenty years of age safe. As people age, they are less able to hear high frequency sounds, making this particular sound annoying only to teenagers or kids. Certain frequency tones especially high frequency ones are apparently undetectable to the human ear after a certain age. It is therefore some kind of ultrasonic teenager repellent. High pitched mosquito ringtones are primarily used in the classroom, allowing those students to be alerted of incoming SMS or MMS on their cell phones without the knowledge of their teachers. But also in some public places where cell phone ringing are forbidden. It is perfect for signaling the arrival of a text message without being detected by an adult. But cell phone users need to responsible. It is not because adults can't hear those kind of mosquito ringtones that they can feel free to get their cell phones anywhere and especially in places such as hospitals or on planes where cell phones can cause electronic interferences. Also, as you can imagine, this "stealth technic" is not 100% perfect. You may still get caught if the teacher notices your classmates looking at you or sees an unusual behaviour from you. The teacher may certainly come to the idea you are using buzz mosquito ringtones. Some classmates may also find your official mosquito ringtones disturbing them. Recently, Phat Tonez removed the adult-proof mosquito ringtones from sale due to waves of complaints. There's still an alternative to downloadable mosquito ringtones for cell phones: vibrating alerts. It may always be useful in some noisy environments, not to mention for the hearing impaired that wouldn't be able to listen the alarm mosquito noise ringtones anyway. Calorie Shifting As A Method Of "Diet Weight Control"

By David K. Snyder There are many types of diets on the market today claiming to be your one method of diet weight control. There are also hundreds of pills and fad diets out there to go along with them. But how many truly work? Low fat diets are being used by hundreds of thousands of overweight people as we speak. Has it curbed the overweight epidemic we are facing? Not even slowed it down. There are thousands of low fat items in the groceries and restaurants. We are consuming more low fat products than ever. Where are we as a society today? In the last 30 years our overweight population has gone from approximately 1 in 8 to approximately 1 in 2. This means we currently have over 100 million overweight Americans and the world is laughing at us. Starvation diets, including low calorie and low carb diets, just arent working. We see rapid weight loss then the weight gain starts all over. Just like a yoyo. We gain and we lose.we gain and we lose. Lets look at a revolutionary new weight loss idea. It is called calorie shifting. Our bodys metabolism adjusts to what we have eaten in the last few days. It has no way of knowing what we are going to eat tomorrow or the next day so it has to go on history. So what happens if we trick it into speeding up the eat foods that have calories that are rapidly consumed. It consumes those calories and then moves to consume our stored fat calories. We then continually change our calorie intake on a daily basis. We change the types of calories we are consuming as well as when we consume them. This constant changing causes our bodys metabolism in high gear and causes us to keep losing weight. This idea makes sense as we look at the other diets we have seen on the market lately. Most of them encourage us to starve our body which causes our metabolism to slow expecting us to not get enough food the next day. For example we eat 2500 calories normally then we drop our calorie intake to 1000. Our body gears down to the 1000 level and burns only 1000. When we return to the 2500 calorie diet our body is still at the 1000 calorie level and the extra 1500 calories get stored as fat. We then gain our weight back while our body adjusts. We have just defeated ourselves in reaching that much sought after goal of weight loss. David Snyder is an RN who is looking at the weight loss epidemic facing society. Relationships: Fear of Rejection = Self Sabotage

By Nick Arrizza, M.D. I'm sure many of you have had a failed relationship in your past where you may have been rejected by your former mate. This can leave a deeply embedded wound in your mind/body that you then carry into future relationships. Apart from the hurt, sadness and pain associated with such a wound there is also an over arching "fear of rejection" that can set in. If you've ever pondered the purpose of such a fear inside of you, you might have come to the conclusion that such conditioning was there to protect you the next time you found yourself venturing towards a new relationship. Is this however true? Let's look at what the consequences of carrying such a fear are for you. Let's suppose you are entering into a new relationship and you find yourself "feeling" this fear, notice, as you feel it what it does to you. I think you will notice some or all of the following: a reluctance to be open and honest about who you are and what you think and feel (i.e. unable to become fully intimate with your friend), a feeling of tenseness, nervousness, feeling like your emotional self is shut down, untrusting, fearful, guarded, a tendency to draw back, uneasy, uncomfortable and so on. So how do you think this will be perceived and felt by your friend? Well if you're not sure, put the shoe on the other foot and assume that it is your friend who is in this state. How does he/she feel to you? Well I'm sure he/she will feel distant, cold, untrustworthy, as if there is a lot that is being held back from you, not fully present, anxious, and a bit of a downer, to name a few. So how inspiring does such an individual feel to you? Not very I'm sure! The most likely outcome is that this relationship is already doomed from the start. That is you risk another painful ending once again thus further adding to the trauma that you carry. So you see the maxim here is that trauma from unsuccessful past relationships must be healed before engaging a new one otherwise you are setting yourself up for a repetition of the past. Time alone will not heal such trauma only push it underground where you will have even less awareness of its negative affects on you. Releasing such trauma can be done quickly and easily through a new modality called the Mind Resonance Process(TM) which I have written extensively about.
